Mrs. Edward Bedard Passes Away Thursday---Cancer Was Cause Of Her Death

Mrs. Ed. Bedard of this city died Thursday at her home of cancer of the stomach after a long illness which was especially severe during the last three months.

She leaves her husband and thirteen children, seven boys and six girls. They are Willie, who lives at home, Zephere and Horace who are both in France with the A. E. F., Mrs. Fred Bjergo of Goodridge, Minn., Mrs. Willie Gauthier who now makes her home here since the death of her husband some weeks ago, Anna, who lives with her sister at Goodridge, and Wilbur, Lena, Rose, Wilfred, Joseph and Peter all of whom live at home. The youngest child, Wilfred was 11 years old Saturday, the day his mother was buried.

Mrs. Bedard's maiden name was Adele Cartier and she was born Sept. 18, 1867 at Marquette, Mich., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Cartier. A few years later the family removed to Canada and later came to Red Lake county in 1878, settling at Red Lake Falls. Thirty years ago she was married to Mr. Bedard at this city where they have since made their home.

Her father died Dec. 8, 1912 but her mother is still living as are three sisters and three brothers. They are Peter Cartier of Minneapolis, Mrs. Bruno Toutant of Bemidji, Miss Josephine Cartier and William Cartier who live at home, Mrs. George Moquin of this city, Joseph Cartier of Duluth and Cash Cartier of this city.

The funeral was held Saturday from St. Joseph's Catholic church in this city, the Rev. E. J. Lemire officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the cemetery of the church east of the city.

The many friends of the family extend consolation to the relatives of Mrs. Bedard.
