Our beloved mother passed away in her home after a short battle with cancer. She died at 1:55 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 2009. She was 81, born on Aug. 29, 1927. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her favorite hobbies were her love of cooking for her family, dancing, fishing and nickel slot machines. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Ginger Butler, of Clinton; daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Roger Kirby, of Central, and Vickie and Johnnie Seal, of Baton Rouge; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Marsaline Bourgeois and brother, William Butch Lovett. Preceded in death by husband, Leslie L. Babin; father, Colbert Alexander; mother and stepfather, Thelma and William "Bill" Lovett; three brothers; two sisters; and grandson, Brian Perry. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Wednesday, Jan. 21, was from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visiting at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, on Thursday, from noon until Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers will be her six grandsons, Jimmy and Ryan Butler, Dallas Bird, Warren Kron Jr., Primo and Dominic Nardi, and brother, William Butch Lovett. Special thanks to Joyce Cuevas and Jan Paul for all their love, devotion and support.
