Melba Durfee Bolton, age 71, of Roosevelt, passed away July 10, at her home.

She was born Aug. 2, 1937, in Leota, to Ralph and Venice Gagon Durfee. She married Byron McKowen Bolton on Sept. 17, 1953, in the Logan LDS Temple.

Melba was an active member of the LDS Church, serving faithfully in many positions until she was unable to due to Rheumatoid Arthritis. She also worked many long hours on name extraction for the temple even though her hands hurt because of the typing. In earlier years, she was in a singing group that traveled around and performed at many different events. She was also a good seamstress.

She was active in the community, volunteering as an election judge and helping in the schools testing children's eyes.

She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed.

Melba is survived by her husband, Byron, Roosevelt; children, Dean (Tina) Bolton, Logan, Marlene (David) Richmond, LaPoint, Karen (Norm) Winn, Roosevelt, Dale (Lola Jean) Bolton, Logan; 28 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; a sister, Delsa Wilson, Salt Lake City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amanda McClure; and her siblings, Kay, Coy and Janet Durfee; and daughter-in-law Ruth Bolton
