Ralph Allen Ericksen, 77, died Saturday morning in the North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell after a short illness. He was born May 23, 1907 in Mount Pleasant, Utah, the son of Eric Henry and Annie Christina Ericksen. He spent his early years in Utah, coming to Lovell 35 years ago to make his home. He married Nelda Houskeeper on May 22, 1931 in Mount Pleasant, Utah. She died in 1978.

Mr. Ericksen taught music in the Lovell, Cowley, and Byron schools for 36 years. He was a member of the American Federation of Musicians and received an award of Merit from the Wyoming Music Education Association for his work in music. He was well known throughout the Big Horn Basin for his musical talent having played with several dance bands through the years.

Survivors include four sons, Leon of North Hollywood, California, Barry of LaVerne, California, Gregory of Torrington, Wyoming, and Scott of Afton, Wyoming; two daughters, Sherry Brown of Bozeman, Montana and Colleen Allen of Hermiston, Oregon; one brother, Gerald Ericksen of Salt Lake City, Utah; one sister, Helen Denko of Price, Utah; 23 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, 1985 in the Lovell, Wyoming L.D.S. Stake Chapel with Bishop Robert Hawley officiating. Burial will be in the Lovell Cemetery.
