Burial was in the Sardis Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield.
Mr. Shelton died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, in a local hospital here after a short illness.
A native of Winn Parish, Mr. Shelton was a retired salt mine foreman and a member of Sardis Baptist Church.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Linnie Mae Shelton of Winnfield; three sons, Jimmy Shelton of Shreveport, Raymond Shelton of Franklin, and Glynn Shelton of Winnfield; four brothers, J. M. Shelton, John T. Shelton, and Joseph Shelton, all of Winnfield, and Jesse Shelton of Calvin; two sisters, Mrs. Ruthie Hughes and Mrs. Minnie Philan, both of Shreveport; and three grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Ivy Keyes, Frank Barton, Edgar Collins, Jack Shelton, Joe Shelton, and Leo Shelton.
