Former Palmerite Dies Sunday -
Mrs. Inez Ward, 79, a former Palmer resident, died Sunday in a Grand Island hospital.
She was born January 7, 1895 at Brayton, Iowa to Joseph and Rosella Clark Shirey. When she was eight, the family moved to Springview and later to Palmer. She graduated from Palmer High School in 1911 and later taught school in that area.
On December 25, 1913 she married Harry Ward at St. Paul. They farmed near there and later resided in Gillette, Wyoming and Ord prior to their retirement to St. Paul in 1950. Mr. Ward died in 1962.
Her survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Myrna Meyers of Grand Island, Mrs. Donna Armstrong of Farwell, and Mrs. Joyce Ziemba of St. Paul; five sisters, Mrs. Nancy Butler of Palmer, Mrs. Grace Prowett and Mrs. Mildred Reils, both of Central City, Mrs. Muriel Shaver of Lebanon, Oregon, and Mrs. Dorothy Morris of La Habra, California, and fifteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by three sons, four brothers and five great-grandchildren.
