Delilah Hach Brown, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend returned to her Heavenly Father on Sunday, August 29, 1999 at her home in Salt Lake City at the age of 93 of causes incident to age.
She was born October 3, 1906 in Byron, Wyoming as the second daughter and the youngest of four children born to Wilder True and Patty Sessions Hatch, Big Horn Basin, Wyoming Pioneers. She was a granddaughter of Perrigine and Sarah Ann Bryson Sessions, Utah Pioneers of 1847.
She graduated from High School in Rock Springs, Wyoming where she met her husband, Frank H. Brown. They were married December 22, 1926 in the Salt Lake Temple. They made their first home in Los Angeles, California, where they enjoyed many good friends. They returned to Rock Springs and later to Lovell, Wyoming where they were engaged in the bakery business and established their home until 1959.
Delilah enjoyed many activities with church and civic responsibilities. She enjoyed teaching classes in Sunday School, MIA, and Relief Society. She held executive positions in the Stake and Ward boards of Relief Society and YWMIA in California, as well as in Wyoming, and was secretary of the Big Horn Stake Mission for five years. In civic functions she was President and long time member of the Lovell Women's Club, a member and Chairman of the Lovell Library Board, a Gray Lady with the American Red Cross Service Auziliary Board in Wyoming and Louisville, Kentucky, a member of the County Board of Red Cross, and County Polio Committee, and on the Executive Council of the Girl Scouts of Lovell and Big Horn County.
In 1959, filling a call with her husband to the East Central States Mission, she was set apart as President of the Mission Relief Society and advisor to the MIA and Primaries of the mission. Her four years were memorable with dedicated missionaries and warm hearted people. She loved them and the years they spent in Kentucky, Tennessee, and West Virginia.
From the East Central States Mission she and her husband were assigned to the Missionary Home in Salt Lake City, Utah to oversee missionary training. She was called to be a member of the General Board of the Young Women's Mutual Improvement Association and a member of the Women's Legislative Council of Utah, representing the General Board. Remembering her pioneer heritage she became an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She also sang with Utah Oratorio Society for 14 years, and studied art with the Brigham Young University Program. Her loving husband passed away on March 29, 1970.
She enjoyed oil painting and completed many paintings over the years. She recalled her life as being colorful and eventful during a dramatic and changing period of history. She cherished her memories as warm and beautiful blessings. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by two daughters and one son, Thora Belle (Ronald) Willis of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, James Frank (Jo) Brown of Logan, Utah, and Suzanne (Louis) Anderson of Fruit Heights, Utah, eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to Primary Children's Hospital.
Funeral services were held Thursday, September 2, 1999 in Salt Lake City. Graveside services and interment will be Saturday, September 4, 1999 at 10:30 a.m. in the Lovell Cemetery, Lovell, Wyoming. Friends in Lovell may call at the Haskell Funeral Home from 9:00-10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
