Ronald Porter Willis, 88, and Thora Isabella Brown Willis, 84, of Idaho Falls, passed away on July 8, 2015, as the result of a tragic car accident on I-15 near Plymouth, Utah. They will be mourned by friends and family all over the world.

Ronald was born September 20, 1926, in Cowley, Wyoming, to Andrew Wesley Willis and Amy Elizabeth Porter Willis. He grew up and attended schools in Laramie, Wyoming, and graduated from University of Wyoming He also attended University of Illinois where he earned a Doctorate in Geology. He was a field geologist in many parts of the world and taught geology at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire for the last 28 years of his career. Ron served his country in the Navy during World War II.

Thora Isabella Brown Willis was born March 8, 1931, in Lovell, Wyoming, to Frank Hunter Brown and Delilah Hatch Brown. She grew up and attended schools in Lovell and graduated from Lovell High School. She also attended Brigham Young University where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Music. She was a homemaker and piano teacher.

On September 8, 1953, Ron and Thora were married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. To this union were born five children, Andrew, Patty, James, Elizabeth, and David. Ronald and Thora made their home in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, for 28 years. They also lived all over the world with their family before settling in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

They were members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ron served as a Bishop. Thora served as choir director, organist, pianist, and Relief Society President. Ron enjoyed rock hunting, photography, singing, and playing the guitar. Thora enjoyed singing, piano, and gardening. She was active in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers as a teacher, storyteller and leader.

son, Andrew Wesley (Sheryl Lee) Willis of Fruit Heights, UT;
daughter, Patty Christiena (Mary Lou Prince) Willis of Salt Lake City, UT;
son, James Robert (Miow-Lin Yap) Brown Willis of Idaho Falls, ID;
daughter, Elizabeth Willis of Middletown, CT;
son, David Ronald (Jennifer Ream) Willis of Ashburn, VA;
Thora's brother, James Frank Brown of Logan, UT;
Ron's brother, Robert (Kaye Blackner) Willis of Laramie, WY.
14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren
Thora was preceded in death by her parents. Ron was preceded in death by a sister, a brother, and his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at the Coltman LDS 1st Ward building, 12448 North 5th East, with Bishop Blair Sautter, officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. prior to services at the church. A graveside service will held at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2015, at the Lovell Cemetery, Lovell, Wyoming.

Military Rites will be performed by the Lovell, Wyoming, Veterans Memorial Team.
