Carl Barney Sweat, 58, former Cottonwood Point resident, died on Christmas day in Immokalee, Fla. and funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Adrian Knipper of Jackson, Tenn. officiating. Burial was in Maple Cemetery.
Mr. Sweat was born in Selmer, Tenn. on July 30, 1906, the son of the late Stant and Emma Sweat. He was married to Miss Dorothy Studdard in Corinth, Miss.
In 1953, in Caruthersville, he was married to Miss Lorraine Parkin and they moved to Florida the latter part of November.
In addition to his wife, he leaves two sons, Earl Sweat of Tupelo, Miss. and Carl Sweat Jr. of Angola, La.; a daughter, Mrs. Johnny Linsman of Cottonwood; three brothers, Roy, Covie and Robert Sweat; two sisters, Mrs. Thelma Morgan and Mrs. Bernice Floyd; and eight grandchildren.
