Funeral services were held at St Antony's Church Wednesday for Antonio Bertapelle, prominent Itilian American farmer, who was killed in an automobile accident on Monday evening.
The accident occured between Merino and Atwood when the carein which he was riding struck the rear of a semi-trailer truck parked on the the paved highway.
He was instantly killed. Alfonso Bertapelle, 31,also a passenger in the car sustained a fracture of a leg, a fracture of the collar bone, broken nose and other severe injuries.
Mr. Bertapelle, who was 54 years of age, was born in Italy, coming to the United States in 1904. He located in Sterling in 1909. Surviving him are his wife, and five childred: mMrs Carrie Michieli, Sterling; Mrs. Helen Fachinello, Littleton; Fred, Victor, and Arthur, all at home.
Rev. Charles H. Hagus conducted the services and burial was at Riverside Cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of the Whyman Funeral Home.
