Marvin Adair Clem, 67, Athens, died Friday at his home.
The funeral will be today at 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Andrew Wolfe officiating. Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery with McConnell Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Clem was an Army veteran of the Korean War and served two tours in Vietnam. He was a retired major and commanded a National Guard Unit here. He was a coach and school principal in Huntsville and at Athens High School. He served as acting superintendent of the Athens School System and was president of the Alabama Athletic Board. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was on its Board of Stewards.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Sanderson Clem; two sons, James Edward Clem of Athens and Marvin Adair Clem Jr. of Myrtle Beach, SC; two sisters, Clara Hine Totten of Athens and Mary E. Gilbert of Athens; and a granddaughter.
