Athens, AL - Graveside service for Clara Clem Totten, 78, of Athens was to be today at 10 a.m. at the Athens City Cemetery with Mike Davis officiating.
Mrs. Totten died Sunday, February 24, 2002, at the Limestone Health Facility. She was born April 4, 1923, in Limestone County to J. E. Clem and Clara Hine Clem.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Athens, former administrator of Athens Convalescent Center, former owner of the Lucky Girl Shop and former chairwoman of the Limestone Chapter of the American Red Cross. The late Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey presented Mrs. Totten with an award for service for the American Red Cross. She retired as a receptionist for Dr. Robert Pitman's office.
Survivors include two sons, Mike Totten and Dan Totten, both of Athens; one sister, Mary Elizabeth Gilbert of Athens; and four grandchildren.
