Bud was born the son of Ray and May (Brown) Medlam on Saturday, September 14, 1918 in rural Sumner County.
On December 28, 1940, Bud and Alice "Aileen" Troyer were united in marriage. Together they celebrated 57 years of marriage. Along with his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 4 sisters.
Survivors include his son, Kenneth Medlam of Wellington, Kansas, daughter, Janice Mooney and her husband Dale of Augusta, Kansas, daughter, Carol Penny of Wellington, Kansas, grandson, Brent Penny and his wife Holly of Wellington, Kansas, granddaughter, Traci Hoover and her husband Farold of Oxford, Kansas, 8 great-grandchildren, sisters; Betty Medlam of Anthony, Kansas and Marguerite Stricker of Great Bend, Kansas and his run around pal, Mary Lou Voge of Argonia, Kansas.
Visitation will be held at the Day Funeral Home in Argonia, Kansas from 1:00 - 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 8, 2010 with family present from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m..
Funeral services for Hiram will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 9, 2010 in Argonia Friends Church, 202 North Pine, Argonia, Kansas.
Interment will follow at the Argonia Cemetery, Argonia, Kansas.
Memorials have been established in his loving memory with Alzheimers Association - Sunflower Chapter, 347 South Laura, Wichita, Kansas 67211. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
