Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony with The Reverend Jan Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Betty June Medlam was born December 6, 1927 in Sumner County, Kansas, one of 12 children born to Ray V. and May (Brown) Medlam. She grew up on the family farm south of Argonia and graduated from Argonia High School with the Class of 1946.
In 1962, Betty began working as a bookkeeper for Citizen's National Bank. She retired from the bank in 1992.
Betty was a faithful member of the Freeport Presbyterian Church serving as treasurer for many years. She was an avid bowler, bowling on leagues for many years, attending several tournaments. She enjoyed embroidery making several pieces for her family, doing word searches and loved collecting dolls acquiring more than 100.
On March 22, 2018, Betty passed away at Harry Hynes Hospice Unit in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 90 years, 3 months and 16 days. She was preceded in death by her parents and all eleven of her siblings: Fern Kinney, Helen Olmstead, Geraldine Oller, Marguerite Stricker, and Alvin, Olen, Melvin, Carl, Max and Hiram Medlam.
