Herman Heft, 81, of 1500 Wisconsin Ave., New Holstein, died Sunday afternoon at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, where he had been a patient for 11 days.
Born in the Town of Chilton on May 8, 1886, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Duesterhoeft, and on Nov. 24, 1908, he married Emma Menlzel at Chilton. The couple lived in New Holstein their entire lives.
Mr. Heft was employed at the Lawson Engine Division of Tecumseh Products, A. T. Hipke & Sons and operated a tavern in New Holstein for 14 years. He was also a member of the Calumet County Board for 10 years and a member of the Germania Society, New Holstein.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Arthur, New Holstein; one daughter, Mrs. Pearl Bostian, Milwaukee; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren; one brother, Otto, and a sister, Mrs. Max Eichhorst, both of Chilton. One sister and two brothers preceded him in death.
