TETON CITY, Aug. 26 — Jerry
Allen, 73, long-time resident of Teton,
died Friday at 9:15 a.m. in a
Rexburg hospital following a heart
attack suffered two hours previously.
He was a farmer and rancher.
He was born Oct. 8, 1887, at Lewis-
ton, Utah, son of John Rial and
Sarah Jannet Leavitt Allen. He received
his early education Ihere
and finished at Teton.
On June 7, 1901, he married Bianca
Johnston, in the Salt Lake
City LDS Temple. They resided in
Teton since that time. He was active
in civic and church affairs
and was a member of the North
Rexburg LDS Stake High Priest
Quorum, a ward teacher for 54
years, served as a stake missionary
and filled a temple mission.
He was active in genealogical
work.
He was noted as a horticulturist
for the variety of vegetables
and fruits that he raised, and his
well kept flower bed.
Survivors are his widow and
three of his five, children. They are
Mrs. Theron (Winona) Spencer,
Riverton, Wyo.; Mrs. Albert D.
(Sarabell) Bayliff, North Hollywood
Calif., and Clyde Allen, Teton;
13 grandchildren, two of
whom are now serving missions
for the LDS Church; one brother
and four sisters, Mrs. Nettie Donaldson,
Parker; Mrs. Delia Ellis,
St. Anthony; Mrs. Dovy Henderson,
Boise; Mrs. Nita Harris,
Caldwell; and Glen Allen, Whitehall,
Mont.
Funeral services will be conducted
Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the
new Teton LDS Ward Chapel by
Bishop Ray L. Pocock. Friends
may call at the Hanson Funeral
Home in St. Anthony Monday and
at the place of services Tuesday
from 12 noon until service time.
Interment will be in the Teton-
Newdale Cemetery.
