OLD RESIDENT GONE (Obituary)
"Truman Sollars of the Blue Grass neighbor -hood, died last Wednesday and was buried at Wallace Chapel. Mr. Sollars was an old and respected resident of this county, having moved here in 1879. He was born in Ross County, Ohio, August 7, 1812. He died of old age and a complication of diseases, being 85 years, 7 months and 29 days old. He was married in 1831 to Nancy Gebhart, who died in October, (15 Sep) 1869. He married again (17 Oct) 1870 to Susan Conrad, she dying in 1884. There were born by his first wife twelve children and four by his second wife. Mr. Sollars was a member of the U. B. Church, joining that denomination in 1885."
NOTE: The above obituary for Truman R. Sollars clearly states he was born "7 Aug 1812", however, adding his calculated age of 85 years, 7 months and 29 days, shows he died 5 Apr 1898, which was a "Tuesday" The obituary author stated he "died last Wednesday" which is likely the correct day of the week, thus showing that the calculation of his exact age, was one day short... he was "aged 85 years, 7 months and 30 (not 29) days" dying on 6 Apr 1898.
Truman R. Sollars was the last surviving child of Ignatius and Elizabeth Sollars Sr., late of Eugene, Vermillion County, Indiana. At the time of his death, he was survived by six of his sixteen children, Edward Sollars, Emanuel (Sandy) Sollars, and Levi Alonzo (Lon) Sollars, of his first marriage, and Dona Sollars Uhter, Azariah (Azzie) Sollars, and John Sollars, of his second marriage; twelve grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
