Barbara J. "B.J." Minden-Hughes, 75, Topeka, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at a Topeka hospice house.
Mrs. Minden-Hughes was a claims adjuster for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas for 24 years before she retired.
She was born March 8, 1927, in Burlingame, to Roy and Nellie Cappen Bickford. She attended school in Burlingame.
She married Franklin C. Cumpton in 1941. They divorced.
She later married Raymond D. Hughes. They also divorced.
She later married Kenneth Minden. They divorced.
Survivors include two daughters, Colleen Stellwagen, Topeka, and Marcia Durston, Midlothian, Texas; three sons, David Hughes and Robin Hughes, both of Topeka, and Raymond Hughes, Laguna Hills, Calif.; four brothers, Kenneth Bickford and Leo Bickford, both of Holton, Clifford Bickford, Maple Hill, and Leland Bickford, Bullhead City, Ariz.; three sisters, Arlene Nott and Janice Sue Stewart, both of Topeka, and Betty Mayo, Filer, Idaho; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. Inurnment will be at Westlawn Memorial Gardens.
