William Nix Bigham came to Bell Co., TX from Bedford Co., TN with his mother and other family members in the fall of 1851. They settled on the banks of the Leon River in Tennessee Valley.
He married Harriet Elizabeth Scott June 4, 1854 and they had several children but all died young except two sons, Jessie William & James Oliver.
He was in the calvary (CSA) during the civil war.
He moved to Commanche county, TX before 1880 where he had ranching interest, a General Store and was postmaster at Fleming.
They moved to Garden City, TX after 1900.
