FRAZIER, FANNYE HELEN – 56, wife of the late Dr. M. F. FRAZIER and member of a
prominent Scott County family, died Saturday in Oneida. She was a sister of
Congressman JOHN J. DUNCAN, formerly of Helenwood and now living in Knoxville,
and Criminal Court Judge JOE D. DUNCAN, also of Knoxville, Mrs. FRAZIER was a
member of the Baptist Church and the Eastern Star Lodge. The daughter of CASSIE
I. DUNCAN and the late F. B. DUNCAN, Mrs. FRAZIER graduated from Huntsville High
School in 1936 and later attended I. M.U. for a short period of time on a
basketball scholarship. After developing a great interest in helping others, she
began attending Fort Sanders School of Nursing in Knoxville, graduating in 1940.
She the served as supervisor on the night shift at Bacon Hospital in Loudon
until 1945. In 1947 she came to Huntsville, where she was employed as a nurse by
Dr. M. F. FRAZIER. They were married in 1956 and she continued to work as nurse,
secretary, bookkeeper, and full-time mother to her three children which she had
by a previous marriage; BRENDA CECIL, DUANE LIMBURG and the late LINDA HOGUE.
Mrs. FRAZIER worked for Dr. FRAZIER from 1947 until his death in 1968. She then
retired as a full-time nurse but continued visiting many of their former
patients in their homes and also receiving many in her home. This was a source
of great joy and comfort to her, although her greatest joy was spending many
hours with her two grandchildren, LISA HOGUE and BETH CECIL. She is also
survived by three other brothers, ROBERT DUNCAN of Jefferson City, FRANK DUNCAN
of Franklin, N.C., and FRED DUNCAN of Goshen, Ind.; and four sisters, Mrs.
ELIZABETH KECK of Knoxville, and Mrs. MARTHA McCURIO, Mrs. DOROTHY PROCTOR, and
Mrs. MARJORIE ELY, all of Cincinnati. Funeral services were held Tuesday
afternoon at First Methodist Church in Oneida with Rev. KENNETH PERKINS and Rev.
PHILLIP KAZEE officiating. Burial was in the Duncan Family Cemetery. (Source:
