Lillian Elizabeth Duncan Keck, age 96, passed away peacefully February 5, 2018 at Clarity Pointe Memory Care Assisted Living in Farragut, TN.

Elizabeth was born in Huntsville, TN to Flem B. and Cassie (Lee) Duncan.

As a child, Elizabeth and her family attended the Helenwood Presbyterian Church in Helenwood, TN. She was a member of the Fountain City Presbyterian Church since 1984.

Elizabeth graduated from Huntsville, TN High School in 1940. After graduation, she moved to Knoxville to attend the National Business College. Following her graduation, Elizabeth worked for C.M. McClung in Knoxville, Tennessee Eastman in Oak Ridge, and the USO Headquarters located in the Empire State Building in New York City. Later in life, Elizabeth taught special needs children in Knox County elementary schools. She retired from the Tennessee Department of Health where she worked as a Speech and Hearing Technician in the Children’s Special Services Division.

Elizabeth had a loving heart and was always gracious and kind to everyone. She was an accomplished bridge player and loved reading, especially poetry. Elizabeth was an avid fan of UT football and basketball. Many of her birthdays were celebrated with a “Beat Bama” football party. Elizabeth also enjoyed travel and spending winters on Amelia Island in Florida.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Flem and Cassie Duncan; her husband of 60 years, Kenneth Carl Keck, Sr.; brothers and sisters-in-law Fred Duncan and wife, Ruth, Frank Duncan and wife, Laura Ellen, John Duncan and wife, Lois, Robert Duncan and wife, Marilyn; sisters and brothers-in-law Marjorie Duncan Ely and husband, George, Dorothy Duncan Boehmler and husband, Mike, Fannye Helen Duncan Frazier and husband, Marshall; and infant twin sisters, Martha Inez and Etta Jane Duncan.

Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law Kenneth Carl Keck, Jr. and wife, Kathryn of Knoxville, Ricky Keck and wife, Donna of Knoxville; two daughters and sons-in-law Sandra Bogle and husband, Don of Knoxville, Susan Vinson and husband, Tommy of Sparta, TN; one brother, Joe D. Duncan of Knoxville; one sister, Martha Mercurio, of Cincinnati, Ohio; 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to caregivers Crystal Miller, Kendra Johnson, Megan Farmer, and the staff of Always Best Care, Avalon Hospice, and Clarity Pointe Memory Care Assisted Living for all their loving care during Elizabeth’s illness.

A Celebration of Elizabeth’s Life will be held at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel, 6200 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN, on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 5:00pm. Reverend John Collett, Elizabeth’s nephew, will officiate. The family will receive visitors from 3:00 to 5:00pm prior to the service.

Interment will be at 2:00pm on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at the Duncan Family Cemetery, 709 Baker Highway, Huntsville, TN.
