Hettie Jame Wallace was born in Coffeyville, Kansas, August 29, 1871. She was married to James Franklin Bowman at Caseyville, Mo., January 12, 1888, and to this union eight children were born, three having preceeded her in death. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. S.L. French and Mrs. Albert Costello of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. R.R. Pollock and Miss Ival Bowman of this city, and one son John Wesley Bowman of Los Angeles. Two brothers, John Wallace of Gas City, Ind., and Tom Wallace of North Charleston, S.C. and three sisters, Mrs. Etta Cleveland, Estella, Okla., Mrs. Betty Atchison, Oregon, and Mrs. Mary Stewart, Spokane, Wash., also survive. She left four grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was a devoted mother and loyal wife. She not only had the responsibility of her home, but was actively engaged in her husband's business and made his interests her own.
They came to this city 28 years ago and were engaged in the decorating business most of that time.
She joined the Methodist Church more than fifty years ago while a young woman, and was a member of the Baptist Church for 45 years, being a member of the local church since coming to this city. She had many friends who with her family mourn her passing.
