Charlotte's parents were John Charles & Mary "Polly" (Burroughs) Goldberg. John was from Dresden, Germany. He was a music and foreign language teacher, who earlier had settled in Albany, NY where he played the organ in the Lutheran church. Mary "Polly" (Burroughs) Goldberg was a daughter of the Benjamin Burroughs, who was one of the 60 men asked to leave the Quaker church for fighting in the Revolutionary War.
Charlotte married Reuben De Forest on 5 January 1833 in Morris Co., NJ.
Reuben & Charlotte De Forest lived across the street from the cemetery where Reuben likely had a shop for his broom making. In those days, someone of that trade usually had a shop, then the family lived above the shop. Charlotte's father owned land in the area where he grew broom straw, which was likely for his son-in-law. Charlotte died of TB before all of her children were grown.
Charlotte was the mother of all of Reuben's listed children starting with Amadee.
