COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Rubye E. Bean Burris, 91, of Cookeville, were held today, Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Dyer Funeral Home. Burial was in the West Cemetery.
Mrs. Burris died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Born on Aug. 10, 1912, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Elijah and Essie Jaquess Bean.
Mrs. Burris was a retired supervisor with Wilson Sporting Goods and a member of the First Baptist Church, the Rose Gleaners Sunday School Class and a former member of the Happy Travelers.
Her family includes one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Carlos Dobbs of Cookeville; one brother, Bruce Bean of Boyington Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Odell Nesbitt of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., and Audrey Ashby of West Palm Beach, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathleen Alred; two sons, Kenneth and Jimmy Burris; one granddaughter, Micki Lafever; a son-in-law, Oral Alred; two brothers, Ridley and Arnold Bean and three sisters, Lois Stuhr, Margie McCaleb and Clara Montgomery.
Pallbearers were Ron Alred, Kevin Dobbs, David Jones, Steve Gass, Vestel Jaquess and Tommy Maynard.
Bro. Charlie Hutchinson officiated at the services.
