Cora was born "Cora Leona Collins" to John Jeremiah Collins and Martha Jane Taylor.

Cora married Harvey M. Person on May 24, 1900 in Guthrie, Logan County, Oklahoma. Her mother, Martha Jane Taylor Collins, was present at the ceremony to give her permission for Ruth to marry, since Cora was only 16 years old.

Cora gave birth to her daughter, Ruth Leona Person, on December 12, 1901 in Hilton, Creek County, Oklahoma.

Harvey either died or he and Cora divorced, because about 1907 Cora married Adolph Andreas Atherley, probably in Kansas City, Missouri. Cora and Adolph moved to Utah and were there by 1910.

Cora and Adolph Atherley divorced in 1929.

In 1930, Cora was living on her own in Bingham Canyon, Salt Lake County, Utah. She owned her own business, dealt in real estate, and ran a rooming house.

Sometime after the 1930 census, Cora moved to Kansas City, Missouri with her married daughter, Ruth, and her son-in-law, Peter Kimball Lemmon, III. She lived there the rest of her life.
