Mary was the daughter of Zachariah Warren [1762] and Agnes White of Franklin County Virginia. She and her two sisters were the only children in the family. Zachariah's land bordered the Edward Richards land [about 6 miles south of Rocky Mount VA], thus a family friendship and resultant marriages of their children.

Sarah "Sally" Ann Warren [1783] married Edmund Hendley Richards Sr. [1783]; while her other sister. Agnes Warren [1788], married John Stewart [1782], the son of Charles Stewart and Charity Richards.

Mary, or Polly as she was called, married John Hodges, the son of Abednego Hodges [1758], in 1811 in Franklin County. Many of these families pioneered into Tennessee [the Richards, Stewart, Hodges, Warren, England, and Jones] in 1814. Then, in c1830, many of them moved north into Illinois and settled in Morgan and Macoupin Counties.

John and Mary entered into Tennessee after 1830. They later moved into Marion County IL and lived out their lives.
