ROBERT CLAYTON OLSON was born October 9, 1928, to parents John and Teressa (Jensen) Olson on a farm near Lake Preston, SO. He grew up and attended country school in the Lake Preston area. He was baptized and confirmed at North Preston Lutheran Church. Robert entered the US Army November 30, 1951. He served in Korea with the 5th Regimental Combat Team and was honorably discharged on August 29, 1953. He was united in marriage to Deloris Nielsen on May 12, 1954, at Pipestone, MN. To this union four children were born. He worked for many years in the road construction business for various contractors. He also was employed with the City of Lake Preston, drove school bus for the Lake Preston School District from 1991 to 2006, and most recently worked for B & K Farms. Robert was a member of the Lake Preston Lutheran Church, the American Legion Porter L Rich Post #63 of Lake Preston, the Lake Preston Fire Department, and a lifetime member of Prairie Village Historical Society. Robert was very active in the Lake Preston community and rarely missed anything that was going on. Those grateful for having shared his life include his wife, Deloris Olson, Lake Preston, SO; three sons, Rodney (Shellie) Olson, Lake Preston, SO, Randy (Sandy) Olson, Lake Preston, SO, and Rick Olson, Lake Preston, SO; one daughter Renae Olson, Highmore, SO; one grandson, Ross Olson, Sioux Falls, SO; three sisters, Ruby Lowe, Sioux Falls, SO, Murriel Warner, Grass Valley, CA, Charlotte Smith, Lake Preston, SO; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Arvid, Orville, and Wally; 2 sisters, Beulah Giles, and Evelyn Mae Carlson.
