Funeral services were conducted in Grass Valley, Calif., last week for Arvid LeRoy Olson, 60, former Lake Preston resident, who died at a Sacramento, Calif., hospital. Memorial services were conducted Tuesday of last week at a Grass Valley mortuary, the Rev. Julius Carreker officiating. Interment was at the Green wood Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Arvid Olson, son of John and Tressa Olson, was born July 27, 1921, in Lake Preston. He grew to manhood in this area. He served in the U.S. Army and saw combat duty during World War 2. Upon his discharge he farmed in the North Preston vicinity until the family moved to California in 1964. He was married to Lillian Christensen on February 22, 1948, and to them three children were born. He is survived by his wife Lillian; two sons, LeRoy of Doniphan, Mo., and John of Grass Valley; one daughter, Mrs. Don (Deanna) Miller of Fort Hood, Texas; and three grandchildren. Also surviving are his father, John Olson, Lake Preston; three brothers, Robert of Lake Preston, Orville of Madison and Wallace of Grass Valley, Calif.; five sisters, Beulah Giles of Pocatello, Idaho, Mrs. Alvin (Evelyn) Carlson, Badger, Mrs. Elmer (Ruby) Jurczewsky of Sioux Falls, Mrs Junior (Muriell) Warner of Grass Valley, and Mrs. Donald (Charlotte) Smith of Lake Preston; and Hubert Jensen, who made his home with the Olson's as a young man.
