---Elizabeth Catherine (Katie) Murphy, 82, of Kirksville, died early this morning.
---Funeral services will be held at the LaPlata Christian church Thursday at 2 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Edward F. Coffman. Burial will be in the LaPlata cemetery.
---Mrs. Murphy was the daughter of Alanson L. and Lavina Buck, and was born Nov. 29, 1877, near Guysville, Ohio. She was married to James Benjamin Murphy Jan. 17, 1904, and to this marriage three children were born.
---She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Charles (Deloma) Conkin, Kirksville; two sons, George Lee Murphy, St. Joseph, and Benjamin F. Murphy, Kirksville; two grandchildren; several nephews and nieces, and two step-grandchildren.
---Mrs. Murphy was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and five brothers.
---She came with her parents to Missouri at the age of five and settled on a farm five miles northwest of LaPlata in the Illinois Bend community. Mrs. Murphy was a member of the Christian Church of LaPlata.
---Bearers will be Leland Turner, Ira Turner, John Curry, Onnie Conkin, John Flanagan and Kenneth Smith.
---The body is at the Dee Riley Funeral Home.
