Immigrated with her parents and siblings from Baden, Germany. According to the obituary of her brother John Michael Manherz (spelling of the last name was not consistent), the family came to America when John was 14, so they likely arrived in the USA in 1852, making Julie about 12 years old. They settled in Liberty Twp, PA, just outside of Fairfield.

Julie married William Henry Flohr 13 Feb 1859 in Liberty Twp., Adams, PA. She had 15 children, 11 of whom reached adulthood. Shortly before 1870 the family moved to Thurmont, MD where she lived the remainder of her life.

Obituary (The News, Frederick, MD - July 12, 1910, pg. 5):
Mrs. Julia Flohr, wife of William Flohr, died at her home in Thurmont, on Saturday night, aged 71 years. She is survived by her husband and ten children: Leonard, Thurmont; Harry, York, Pa.; M.R., on the Lorts farm, and Policeman George W., of Hagerstown; John, of Westminster; Mrs. May Flohr, Thurmont; Mrs. Cora Zumbro, Hagerstown; Mrs. Ella Shultz, Thurmont; Daniel, of Five Forks, and Mrs. Sarah Mannihan, of New Franklin. The funeral was held this morning.
