Mrs. Cora Lee Atkins, wife of J. E. Atkiins died at a local hospital at 6:15 o'clock Saturday, April 21, 1934 following a brief illness. Mrs. Atkins is survived by her husband, a well known painter and four sons, J. M., J. R., Ralph and Sorrels Atkins, one daughter, Mrs. H. D. Davis, three sisters, Mrs. J. F. Cantrell, Mrs. C. H. Emory and Mrs. John Gosnell, one brother, Arthur Morris. Funeral services were held at 11 o'clock Monday, April 23, 1934 at Buck Creek Baptist Church with interment in the Church Cemetery.
