DEATH OF MRS. ALEY GILLASPY
Mrs. Aley Gillaspy died at Bloomington Wednesday, and on Thursday morning the remains were brought to Ellettsville for burial at the C.P. cemetery. Short funeral services were conducted at the cemetery by Rev. W. A. Shumaker.
The deceased was born at the base of Clinch Mountain, near Knoxville Tenn., July 25, 1S24, and died at Bloomington, Ind., Aug. 23,1899, aged 75 years, one month, and eighteen days. She was brought by her parents to Indiana in early childhood, and lived in Washington and Monroe counties. She was married to John Gillaspy in Feb. 1847, with whom she lived until his death March 17, 1870. To them were born six children, four of whom survive her. She was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church. It can be truthfully said that she fulfilled every Christian duty of life as she understood it. "She hath done what she could."
Mother Gillaspy was a pioneer of this county, and for nearly half a century was a resident of Ellettsville. As wife, mother, neighbor, and friend she was faithful. Our people knew her well and have the highest respect for her.
