The youngest child of Richard H. Bogan SR. and Sarah Mildred Bingham of Mississippi. His father died when he was 6 months old; his mother died when he was 12 years old. He migrated to Texas in the early 1900's with his brothers and sisters.
He married Hattie Lou Sebastian on Oct 12, 1914. They had four children, Edna Mae(Jones), twins Lucian and Lou Ann (Basham), and Richard "Dickie".
His sister Florence Bogan Leach and husband Latney Leach, of China, Texas, helped raise his four children after his first wife Hattie Sebastian Bogan died unexpectedly in 1925.
