His daughter Florence died at the age of 18 months on August 3, 1868, his son Herbert died at the age of 24 years, 6 months and 27 days on October 16, 1909. His wife Mary E. died two months later at the age of 62 years, 3 months and 24 days on December 27, 1909. They were buried in the Panther Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Herbert, Ohio County, Kentucky.
