She married the Rev. Josiah Brewer on 1 December 1829 in Stockbridge, Massachusetts; the bride's father performed the ceremony. Nine days later they left for Smyrna (now Izmir), Turkey, where they were some of the first missionaries to serve there. In 1838, they returned to the United States with their 4 children born in Smyrna; they had 3 more children after settling in Connecticut.

Family photo was taken on 1 December 1854 on their 25th wedding anniversary. Order of children was not given in the book source, but it is believed to be as follows based on penciled in names on the side of the same photograph in the possession of Wilma Spice, a descendant of Josiah & Emilia Brewer.
L to R standing: Mary Adele Brewer, David Josiah Brewer [Famous FAG memorial #12014], Emilia Field Brewer & Marshall Bidwell Brewer.
L to R seated: Henrietta Whitney Brewer, Mrs. Emilia Ann Field Brewer (mother), Elizabeth Hale Brewer, Rev. Josiah Brewer (father) & Fisk Parsons Brewer.
