Harold L. Battin, 84, of Forksville RD, Estella, died April 28 at Memorial Hospital, Towanda, following a heart attack.
He was born March 13, 1898, in Elkland Twp. a son of Walter and Melvie McCarty Battin.
A lifetime resident of Sullivan County he was engaged in farming and lumbering most of his life. He also worked at Worlds End State Park for a number of years.
He was a member of the Lincoln Falls Wesleyan Church and was a descendant of the earliest settlers of Sullivan County.
He and his wife, the former Amber Baumunk, would have celebrated their 64th anniversary on Sept. 2 this year.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are two sons, Judson T. of Dushore, and Laverne R. of Baltimore, MD;10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. A daughter Alice Marie Parrish, died in 1975.
Funeral services were held May 1 at the Lincoln Falls Wesleyan Church with Rev. James Leitzel, the pastor officiating. Interment was in Elkland Friends Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were directed by the Russell P. McHenry Funeral Home, Dushore.
