OBITUARY
Loucindia Highfill was born January 23, 1828, in Metholemew county, Indiana, and died at the home of her son, James, near McLouth, Kansas, September 5, 1915. Aged 87 years, 7 months and 12 days.
She moved with her parents from Indiana to Texas and from there to Missouri where she was united in marriage to W. J. Lawles in 1849. To this union seven children were born, four boys and three girls. Her husband and four children proceeded her to the great beyond.
The surviving children are: W. J. of Topeka, J. N. of McLouth and G. J. of Lookeba, Oklahoma. One brother, William Highfill of Independence, Missouri, also survives her.
Grandma Lawles, as she was familiarly known for three years has been afflicted and has been patient through it all as long as she was conscious. She was a kind and loving mother, a good neighbor, was ready to help in time of sickness or in any way, where help was needed. She leaves many warm friends to mourn their loss.
Funeral services were held in the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. J. H. Zabriskie. Burial was made in the Union cemetery.
