William Lawless, Sr., Dead.
Williams LAWLESS, or "Uncle Billy" as he was familiarly called died at the home of his son James last Sunday evening, at the advanced age of 84 years. Mr. LAWLESS was well known in Jefferson Co. Physically he was in his day one of the most powerful men of the county. He was born in Delaware City in the state of Delaware in 1818. Then emigrated first to the state of Indiana, later to Missouri and to Kansas in 1861. He was here in time to participate in some of the exciting scenes in early Kansas history. He joined the christian church years ago and died a christian. He was buried at McLouth cemetery Monday afternoon. He leaves an aged wife and three chidlren to mourn the loss of a husband and father.
