Mr. Thomas Sylvester "Tom" Crosby, 71, died Wednesday (Feb. 18, 2004) at Satilla Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.
He is a native of Charlton County, but he has lived in the Waycross area most of his life. He was a mechanic in the United States Army, and served on border patrol during the Korean Conflict. He was a millwright, and he was employed by Thiokol Chemical Corp. and Union Carbide Corp. as an electrician. He was also a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Blackshear and the D.A.V.
He is the son of the late Courtland Sims Crosby and Emma Aileen Bowen Crosby. He is preceded in death by his grandson, Jordie Clifton; and a sister, Mary Smith.
He is survived by his former wife, Gertrude Bryant Crosby of Waycross; two sons, Thomas Lynn Crosby (wife Sandy) of Waycross, and James Timothy Crosby of Blackshear; two daughters, Maxine Hounshell of Guyton, and Rhonda Crosby Clifton (husband Dale) of Waycross; five grandchildren, Alex Banach, Josh Banach, Tatum Crawford, Sarah Beth Clifton and Paige Crosby; three brothers, Bill Crosby of Virginia, James Crosby of Darien, and David Crosby of Blackshear; two sisters, Dorothy Crews of Gainesville, and Martha Berrie of Blackshear; sixteen nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 22, 2004) at New Life Assembly of God. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7 until 9 p.m. Saturday at Music Funeral Home.
