Tragedy struck in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Troy Bryant, 2 miles north of Durant Sunday afternoon when an automobile rolled down a sloping yard and struck down and killed
Troy Jr., two year old son of the Bryants.

The child who suffered head injuries was rushed to the Durant Hospital in a Murray ambulance, but he was dead on arrival at the hospital.

The four Bryant children were playing in the yard where the automobile had been parked. One of the children climbed in the car and released the brake, the investigating Highway Patrol trooper said and the car started rolling backwards down the hill.
Troy Jr was knocked down and one of the wheels passed over his head, the trooper said.

Mrs. Bryant who was at home alone with the children, grief stricken by the accident was taken to the Durant Hospital for treatment for severe shock.

Mr. Bryant was at work as an oilfield driller at the time of the accident.

Funeral rites for Troy Jr., will be held at Murray Funeral Chapel Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock. Brother Marvin Powell will conduct the service and burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

Survivors in addition to the parents are three brothers, Jerry, Ricky Darrell, and Robert Ray all of the home.

The child's death was not listed as a highway traffic fatality, patrol headquarters here announced.
