Cleta Mae Baker Franklin


Mrs. Cleta Mae Baker Franklin, 82, of Valdese, N.C. died Monday, June 1, 2009, at Golden Years Nursing Center, Falcon, after a period of declining health.

Mrs. Franklin was born March 19, 1927, in Burke County to the late McKinley and Ruth Whitener Baker.

She was a faithful wife, mother and grandmother and a member of High Peak Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Franklin; and two sons, Robert and Howard Franklin. Surviving are two daughters, Lisa Blackmon of Wade, and Kay White of Burke County and a number of brothers and sisters. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Johnny and Allen Franklin, Dustin and Nick Blackmon, Ricky and Kelly Crowder; and four great-grandchildren, Serena, Corey, Josh and Kimberly.

Graveside services for Cleta Mae Franklin will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at High Peak Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Revs. Kevin Purcell and James Sessions officiating.
