Mrs. Romilda Brittain, 93, of Morganton, passed away peacefully Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021.

Romilda was born May 15, 1928, in Burke County, to the late McKinley and Ruth Baker.

She was an active member of Calvary Freewill Baptist Church for many years, where she loved getting to know all the little children of the church. Millie was an avid NASCAR and Atlanta Braves fan, and loved to travel. She trusted Jesus with her whole heart and made prayer and Bible reading a daily part of her life. Millie had a heart for babies and loved caring for them at Grace Hospital as well as her own grandbabies and great-grandbabies.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Brittain; and numerous siblings.

Millie is survived by her children, Barbara (Duane) Purtell, Bruce (Trudy) McCrary, and Laura Holztman; grandchildren, Michelle Ranney, Melissa (Jeremy) Davis, Becky (David) Holtzman, Clay (Jennifer) Holtzman, Teri (Scott) Eastin, Michael (Summer) McCrary, and Andrea (Peter) Skelton; her siblings, James, Ray and Yates Baker, Diane Roger, and Nancy Causby. Also survivng are 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Nov. 14, at 3 p.m., in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, with the Rev. Freddy Lindsey officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Memorial Gardens in Connelly Springs.
