Nancy Elmira Owens Cecil was the daughter of Rev. George Washington and Mary Jane Pemberton Owens.

Her Maternal grandparents were George Washington and Selva Phoebe Gregory Pemberton.

Her Paternal grandparents were Wesley C and Caroline Adkins Owens.

She married William Riley Cecil on February 11, 1894 at Helenwood, Scott County, Tennessee.

GOODIN, NANCY CECIL--age 80, of Oneida passed away Wednesday,at 12 P.M. following a lingering illness. She was a splendid woman, a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church R. 1, Oneida. Surviving: 4 daughters,Mrs. Ethel Cecil West, and Mrs. Cordelia Ellis,Oneida; Mrs. Lillie Price, Vicco, Ky., and Mrs. Hazel Thompson, Cincinnati, Ohio; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grand children. Funeral Saturday 2 P.M. at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Roy Blevins officiating. Interment Cecil Cemetery at the Cherry Fork West in charge. (Scott County News, Fri., 20 Apr 1956, p8)
