Melvina Ryan of Bedford, IN, died Thursday, February 14, 2002, at her residence. Born on August 7, 1927, in Oolitic, IIN, she was the daughter of Dewey and Pearl (Covey) Chenault. She married John Wesley Ryan on January 16, 1945, and he died in 1993.

Surviving are two sons, Rick Ryan of Bedford, IN, and Ronnie Ryan of Avoca, IN; one daughter, Sherry Turner of Bedford, IN; three sisters, Dorothy Elder of Indianapolis, Betty Stancombe and Erma Haws, both of Bedford, IN; three grandchildren, Rick Ryan, John Cummings, and Amy Hopkins; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother, Dewey Dale Chenault.

She retired as a cook and custodian at Shawswick School and attended Dive Christian Church.

Services for Melvina Ryan will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 18th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Johnny Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Leatherwood Cemetery.
