Schroeder was born in Decatur County Sept. 2, 1912, the son of John and Elizabeth Trilling Schroeder. He was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church of Rushville and the Knights of Columbus of Rushville. He also belonged to the Connersville branch of the National Barbershoppers Association. He moved to Rush County from Shelby County in 1953.
He is survived by five sons, Robert E. and Richard J. Schroeder, both of Glenwood, Donald Schroeder, Muncie, Christopher Schroeder, Indianapolis, and Michael Schroeder, Bloomington; three daughters, Mrs. William (Mary Therese) Kozak III, Minneapolis, Minn., Roslie Schroeder, Hawthorne, Calif. and Annette Schroeder, Bloomington; one brother, Leonard Schroeder, Greensburg; two sisters, Sister Marie Schroeder, Greensburg and Sister Agnes Cecile Schroeder, Indianapolis; and eight grandchildren.
One son, Dennis Schroeder, one brother, Philip Schroeder and one sister, Agnes Thorman, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Rushville, with the Rev. William Cleary officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Greensburg.
Friends may call at the Moster and Cox Mortuary in Rushville after 2 p.m. Friday. A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
