Fred Lasswell Dies After Long Illness
Mr. Fred G. Lasswell, 79, of the St. Clere community, died Saturday in a Topeka hospital where he had been a patient since November 26. He had cancer and had been ill for several months. He was a retired farmer and stockman and was well known in the Onaga area. His wife, Marie, was a teacher at Onaga Grade School for many years.
He was born November 13, 1894 in the St. Clere community and spent most of his life there.
He was married to Margaret McGinnis in 1915. She preceded him in death. He was married to Marie Henderson in 1929.
Survivors include his wife, Marie, of the home; a son, Hugh Lasswell of Ventura, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Bonnie Jones of Emmett; a brother, Roy Lasswell, of St. Marys; a sister, Ms. Lottie Ketterman of Summerfield; two half-sisters, Mrs. Bessie Lunger of Summerfield and Mrs. Beatrice Pine of Manhattan; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Verschelden Funeral Home in St. Marys. Interment was in the St. Clere cemetery.
