Mrs. Flora Rockwood, 85, of Springfield, died Friday at Dirksen House. Born in Hadley's Landing in Calhoun County, she was the daughter of Flora Bell Hadley Fowler and Arthur DeLong Fowler.

Mrs. Rockwood married Grover Cleveland Rockwood, the former owner and operator of the Library Hotel, in 1909. She spent most of her married life in Springfield. Mr. Rockwood preceded her in death in January 1972.

Mrs. Rockwood attended Alton Music College in Alton and taught Sunday school for 60 years, retiring last year. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Daughters of 1812 and of the First Methodist Church. She was a past president of the Sangamon County Chapter of the Women's Christian Temperance Union.

Surviving are a daughter; a son-in-law; sister Mrs. Opal Uzzel; eight grandchildren. A son, John B., preceded her in death in 1970.

Services at Bisch Memorial Home. Burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
