----
Farrell Wayne "Fiddie Wayne" Barney, 57, passed away peacefully in his sleep Nov. 2, 2005, in Sevier Valley Hospital, thus ending his battle with cancer.

He was born Dec. 13, 1947, in Richfield, to Afton L. and Velda Farmer Barney. He grew up in Richfield and attended school there.

A graduate of Richfield High School and Sevier Valley Tech, Farrell joined the Navy in 1967, and served four years in the Orient, Guam and San Diego. He returned to Richfield, and married Jan Carole Bredsguard in Monroe May 22, 1971. Their children are Natalie Christine (Troy) Hatch, Richfield; and Coby Wayne Faye Barney, Gunnison.

Farrell was a dedicated father and husband, and remained with his beloved Jan until her passing Sept. 1, 1998, and he never remarried.

Farrell enjoyed his time in Green River, Wyo., and was employed with both Safeway and Smith's there. He always had a friendly "Hey kid, how ya' doin'?" to anyone he met, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Although Farrell lived in many places, his heart was always at home in the valley where he was born. He spent a lot of time there doing the things he loved, like camping, hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He also enjoyed working in his yard and Dutch oven cookouts.

In addition to his children, Farrell is survived by brothers and sisters, Afton Larry and Dorothy Barney; Donna and Dallin Magleby; Freeland and Dorothy Barney; and Clem and Charlotte Barney; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mark and Anna Snedeger; Ronda and Lynn Huntsman; and Faye Barney.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters, Vonda Snedeger, Gladys and LaVell Waters, Maida Barney, and an infant sister, Orean Barney, Lottie and Dutch Verdonk, LaRean and LaGrande Smith, and Myrl and Robert Wilson.

Funeral services were Nov. 5 in the Magleby Mortuary Chapel, with Bishop Mark Blake officiating. Compassionate services were provided by the Richfield LDS 4th and 6th ward Relief Societies.

A family prayer was offered by Lynn Huntsman, (brother-in-law), and the invocation was given by Mark Blake.

Prelude and postlude music was performed, and musical selections included a medley of songs by Clee Barney, (friend).

Family tributes were given by Jeannie Hatch, (friend), and Larry Barney, (brother).

The Benediction was given by Billy White, (friend).

Serving as pallbearers were Darren Larry Barney, Larry Blake Barney, David L. Waters, Troy Hatch, DeLoy Hatch, Dee Peterson, Maynard Barney, Bruce Hendrickson and Jason Jensen.

Honorary pallbearers were Coby Barney, Dallin Magleby, Mark Snedeger, Kirby Anderson, Kim Bredsguard, Kirk Bredsguard and nephews.

Interment was at the Monroe Cemetery with military rites accorded by the Monroe American Legion Post #37, and the dedicatory prayer given by Daril Magleby, (nephew).

Funeral directors, Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
