Sara Kate Harr Tomlinson, 95, died on Sunday, May 24, in Atlanta, at A.G. Rhodes Home at Wesley Woods Retirement Center.

She was the widow of Dr. R. Kyle Tomlinson who served as District Superintendent of the Chattanooga District of The United Methodist Church. Also, he was pastor of the East Chattanooga and Asbury Churches of Chattanooga.

She is survived by her son and his wife, Dr. K. Edward and Nancy Tomlinson, of Marietta, Ga., and a daughter and her husband, Patricia A. and Anthony Lux, of Huntsville, Al. Also surviving are four grandchildren, two granddaughters and their husbands, Lisa and Jeff Engberg of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Kelly and Charles Bachman of Marietta, Ga.; one granddaughter; Jenny Lux of Huntsville, Al., and one grandson, Preston Lux of Huntsville, Al. There are five great-grandchildren. She has two surviving sisters, Lola Mae Haney and Pauline Templeton of Blountville; and three brothers, Haskell Harr of Blountville, John Martin Harr of Kingsport, and Charles Harr of Kingsport.

Early in her life, she was an elementary school teacher in Sullivan County, Tn. When she married, she gave herself completely to being a pastor's wife. In that role, she lived in parsonages in Saltville, Va., Norcross, Ga., Knoxville, Kingston, Chattanooga, Kingsport, Johnson City, Oak Ridge and Greeneville, Tn.

After the death of her husband, she was asked to assume his role as Visiting Minister at Brainerd United Methodist Church. She worked as Director of Special Visitation Ministries for seven years.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, at 2 p.m. at Brainerd United Methodist Church with the Dr. Dennie Humphries and Bishop Michael Watson officiating.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Interment will be Thursday at Gunnings Cemetery, in Blountville.
