Lola Mae Haney, 94, entered into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior during the morning hours of Wednesday (March 21, 2018) with her loving family by her side after an extended illness.

Lola was born on December 27, 1923 to the late James & Martha Ann (Wine) Harr in Kingsport, TN.

Lola was a graduate of Hiawasse College and Emory and Henry College. Lola taught English and Language Arts at Blountville Junior High and other schools. She was a member of the Tennessee Retired Teachers Association as well as Sullivan County FECD. Lola served as the sponsor of the Junior Varsity and Varsity cheerleaders of Sullivan County for many years. In her spare time she enjoyed Atlanta Braves baseball, UT Football, listening to Rev. Charles Stanley's services, quilting, gardening, crafts, cooking, and hosting the annual "neighborhood party". Lola has been a dedicated member of Blountville United Methodist Church since 1956. For several years she worked for the United Methodist Church in the Southwest Virginia and Eastern Tennessee areas.

Lola was her husband's primary caregiver for many years until his death in 2010. Lola was the unofficial genealogist of her family. Most of all, Lola loved her family; they are taking comfort in knowing she is with her Savior today.

In addition to her parents, Lola was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Willard Haney; six brothers, Haskell, John, Charles, Henry, J.R., and Grady Harr; and five sisters, Sara Tomlinson, Pauline Templeton, Justine Netherland, Hazel Simmerly, and Lenora Woods.

Left to cherish her memories are her three sons, Gary Haney & wife Denise, Ron Haney & wife Vonda, Don Haney & wife Anna; seven grandchildren, Miranda, Hannah, Lindsey, Thomas, Valerie, Benjamin, and Jamie; several nieces, nephews, and host of friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday (March 24, 2018) from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. Susan Arnold officiating.

Lola will be laid to rest beside her husband on Saturday (March 24, 2018) at 3:00 p.m. at Gunnings Cemetery (4851 TN-126, Blountville, TN 37617). Family will serve as pallbearers.
